Requiem K 626: Lacrimosa

I really like the Requiem K 626: Lacrimosa from Mozart...but my Latin is not that strong so I was wondering if anyone had the lyrics ( + translation)...

Lacrimosa dies illa,
Qua resurget ex favilla
Judicandus homo reus.
Huic ergo parce, Deus:
Pie Jesu Domine:
Dona eis requiem. Amen

Translated to mean the following:

That day is one of weeping,
on which shall rise again from the ashes
the guilty man, to be judged.
Therefore spare this one, O God,
merciful Lord Jesus:
Give them rest. Amen.

I hope that helps you understand the pathos of the music.

(NWC content)

I did a "modern" synth/techno arrangement of this in NWC. It's available at The Scriptorium - Lachrymosa

Please note that the link to the mp3 file is dead, and should be replaced by this one

Hope you like it, or at least, don't find it too awful... :)

Thanks for the lyrics. As it was written for a funeral I already realised that the lyrics where in that direction.

--------------------

Experimental ...but you have to be for it ... I don't really like modern remixes of classical music form the "olden days"....  but like I said it depends on your taste so I am sure lots of people out there might like it .

I have been looking everywhere for the words of Lacrimosa Requiem by Mozart.
I appreciate everything that this site has done. It means a lot to me. Thanks!

AFAIK, this requiem uses the "standard" lyrics for a requiem, and you may find them in many sites.
Especially if you bought good CDs, the lyrics of what you hear should be printed in the booklet, even on such classics. However, this kind of details is often forgotten, and that's really a shame.
I learned English just to understand what my favorite songs were saying (and as it was mainly 50's RnR, I was quite surprised sometimes ;), and I was delighted to see the M.Jackson or the Beatles included the lyrics on the LP's paper envelope :)
In the same manner, IMHO it is a good practice to give the lyrics in the .txt that should accompany one's NWC file that includes lyrics.

Don't forget to look at the lyrics of the Rex Tremendae, too ;)

What are the lyrics to Pie Jesu (requiem)?

Pie jesu
Qui tollis peccata mundi
Dona eis requiem
Agnus dei
sempiternam

For instance:

Sarah Brightman & Paul Miles-Kingston - Pie Jesu
Sarah
Pie Jesu, pie Jesu, pie Jesu, pie Jesu
Qui tollis peccata mundi
Dona eis requiem, dona eis requiem

Paul
Pie Jesu, pie Jesu, pie Jesu, pie Jesu

both
Qui tollis peccata mundi
Dona eis requiem, dona eis requiem

choir
Agnus Dei, Agnus Dei, Agnus Dei, Agnus Dei

both
Qui tollis peccata mundi
Dona eis requiem, dona eis requiem

choir
Dona eis requiem

both
Sempiternam
choir
Dona eis requiem

both
Sempiternam
Sarah
Requiem

Paul
Sempiternam

so that is a number of repeats, but your lyrics were already complete! Do you need a translation?
