midi input (note duration) question

Ok I got midi input/output working correctly with my keyboard. But whenever I play a note, no matter how long (or short) I keep it held down NWC keeps it recorded as a quarter note. How do I fix this so that if I play a song on my keyboard NWC would record the note durations correctly?

Have you set the Note Resolution and Rest Resolution to appropriate values in

Tools > Options > Input

?

note resolution is thirtysecond note
and rest resolution is Quarter rest.

is that correct?

I fyou are playing in individual notes stepwise from your midi keyboard then they will take the time value as set for note input from the computer keyboard. So for each note you enter you have to make sure the duration is set properly. Whether you adjust for each note before you play it, or change them once you have a sequence of them is a matter of personal taste.

Note and rest resolution applies when you are importing midi files, not midi keyboard input.

The alternative method of entering notes from a midi keyboard is to set up a rhythm track in an empty NW file and then play in real time from your keyboard. This produces a second recording file which can then be imported (or copied/pasted) using the note resolutions you want, but I suspect you are actually trying to use the first method.
