NIF - Notation Interchange Format

I've read about it - but I cant find a spec. Does anyone out there know any details. Who owns the format - what software implements it?

I know Midiscan supports NIFF files. It would be great if
NTC did also. I wonder if NTC has plans along these lines?

If possible please consider implementing NIFF into
Noteworthy ASAP. I am using Midiscan and the Lime software sucks.
The lastest release of Noteworthy does a much
better job importing the midi files that Midiscan produces.
I have no music background but I am doing an ongoing project of transcribing
the sheet music collection at Yellowstone National Park.
Noteworthy has been the best compromise for the PC. Notescan
for the Mac has all the features that I would want, but I'm not going to
invest in it at this point. I'll hope that glissandri, grace notes,
and tremelos will eventually show up. The learning curve on this
software is very fast and thus much more preferable to me compared to
Finale and Encore.
