Recording from a keyboard

I am evaluating NWC and so far am very happy with it. The one thing I havent been able to do is to record from my keyboard. I read something that made me think that the unregistered version doesn't do this. I suspect that my midi port on my sound card is not working. Can someone suggest a method for me to verify that the midi port is working.

What is your E-Mail address? What system, sound card, and keyboard specs are you Using?
