(Whoever told you that audio CDs use the midi format had it all wrong.) All you need is the software that came with your CD burner, usually "Easy CD" by Adaptec. Quote Selected

The best freeware wav to midi converter is ScoreExtractor 1.0 by Roman Yakimenko, nut it has many faults.If you are willing to pay $80US for a higher quality program, you may want to consider Digital Ear 4.0 by Epinoisis Software. One conversion and you'll agree that this is truly great software.
