No visible note appearing on NWC in Windows 2000 2001-11-21 05:00 am Hello,I have downloaded the trial version "NoteWorthy 1.70 - 32 bit.exe" for Windows 2000 and installed it properly. But unfortunately while wanting play a sample (ie MOZART) : I can listen to the music but I can't see any note. This makes the use of NWC impossible for me. What can I do ? I have the same trouble with "setup_nwc170_10.exe" version. Quote Selected
Re: No visible note appearing on NWC in Windows 2000 Reply #1 – 2001-11-21 05:00 am Michel, you don't say whether you've rebooted your PC after installing NWC. Twice, immediately after installing a new version, I have seen the same symptom you are describimg, but each time the problem went away after I rebooted my computer. Quote Selected
Re: No visible note appearing on NWC in Windows 2000 Reply #2 – 2001-11-21 05:00 am This should not happen. However, if it does, you should reboot your computer (not simply logout, but actually cycle the power). You could also visit Tools | Options and check your color settings. Quote Selected

Re: No visible note appearing on NWC in Windows 2000 Reply #5 – 2001-11-22 05:00 am Yes, I've had problems with other programs having invisible bits because of colour settings, including the help in one Microsoft product (BizTalk - and that can't be fixed by rebooting - I have to select the text in the help to be able to read it), so I'm afraid the blame for that one must be laid at the feet of Mr. W. Gates.Robin Quote Selected
Re: No visible note appearing on NWC in Windows 2000 Reply #6 – 2001-11-27 05:00 am I'm not sure if I am experiencing the same problem, or a different one. I have been using NWC for a long time now, but only recently put Win2000 on my computer at home. Here's my situation: I'm using 1.70, latest update, with Windows 2000, service pack 2. When I start NWC, no files open yet, everything looks fine. When I open _certain_ music files, the icons that I expect to "come to life" remain grayed out. Moreover, when I move the mouse cursor outside the music area, it disappears. If I move this "invisible" cursor over the icons, they change slightly, but still do not get painted correctly. Once I have opened one of these files, icons on other applications are affected as well. This does not happen with all files, only a few I've found so far. I would include an example .nwc file here, but I don't know if I can attach it here. Shall I send it somewhere else?Note that I never experienced this problem until I moved to Win2000. Quote Selected
Re: No visible note appearing on NWC in Windows 2000 Reply #7 – 2001-11-27 05:00 am I would be very surprised if this behavior varied from file to file. The situation that you describe sounds very much like a display driver problem (there may be other things going on as well, but the icon painting problem sounds very much like display problems). Since you recently upgraded to Windows 2000, this seems even more probable. You should probably:1 - Check to make sure that your graphics card is compatible with Win 20002 - Check with the manufacturer for the latest Win 2000 drivers for the graphics card Quote Selected
Re: No visible note appearing on NWC in Windows 2000 Reply #8 – 2001-11-29 05:00 am I suspected the video driver too, of course, but I was using the latest driver from Leadtek.com for my card (a GeForce 256 DDR). This is a driver for Win2000.Well, I decided to go ahead and try a reference driver from nVidia instead. This is basically the same driver, but Leadtek has added some of their own stuff to the one that was giving me grief. NWC works like a charm now -- no mouse weirdness anymore.Oh, by the way, the behavior definitely WAS on a file-by-file basis. Perhaps there is something common to those files that exercises the driver in a way that the others do not. At any rate, all my music files seem to work now. Thanks,David Quote Selected
