Conflicting objectives of NWC

Real value for money. The ornaments are not much of a problem as many are performed differently at different tempi and may may vary from performance to performance. For midi they need to be written out in full. All that is really needed is a few signs for them (perhaps additions to the text character set).

More easier handling of multiple voices on a single stave would be helpful as would being able touse double tails.

I would like to be able to use slurs in a vocal work without having tied to the vocal line.

NWC as it is is good compromise of features and program complexity. The author is to be commended for its elegance.

Andrew Purdam is right, imho, when he says we should keep encouraging and chivvying NoteWorthy to make their good product even better. * Implementing trills and other ornaments as symbols with no MIDI meaning would satisfy the user who need to see this sort of information in their scores and leave people who know more about midi free to tweak their scores for exactly the results they want. * Giving us more control over text fonts, titles and an option for headers and footers shouldn't be that big a challenge, surely? * Sorting out notational errors (like double bars for repeats that show up with a space between them) and omissions (like collapsing multiple-bar rests when printing single parts) should be a matter of self-respect <grin> In general, there is no competition for NoteWorthy; but if you look back through the forum and the archives you see the same requests and suggestions coming up time after time. At the moment, you can't notate (say) a Mozart piano sonata or a four-part hymn setting on two staves correctly. Go for it, Eric!

Neils Neilsen highlights the conflicting user interests. I too would like the fonts, enhanced parts writing and other fixes too.

It may be possible to make the program more useable quickly for some of us by simply adding signs to the text character set (if there is such a thing thing as a "simple" program mod.) The implementation of a midi trill is not simple. Each one would have to be user defined to fit the musical context although there are some general rules which could be shown in a style pick list. Effectively we would end up hidden notation attached to a sign.
