Re: Help with my Roland XP-80! Reply #1 – 2001-04-20 04:00 am If you aren't changing ANYTHING else each time you play, but you still get varying results, you probably have a hardware device conflict/problem, faulty cable, or a mis-behaving driver. You have to test each item before you know for sure.It is also not clear which part of your system is giving you trouble. I have not heard of a SoundBlaster Vibra, and there is no mention of such a thing on the SoundBlaster site.If you are having trouble with the XP-80, you might need to refer to its user manual, as well as validate that it is operating correctly. If you are using NoteWorthy Composer, it would also help to describe exactly what is happening in NWC, rather than just referring to "any midi software" when describing the problem.See also: https://forum.noteworthycomposer.com/?topic=754.msg3755#msg3755, https://forum.noteworthycomposer.com/?topic=1247, https://forum.noteworthycomposer.com/?topic=1599, https://forum.noteworthycomposer.com/?topic=457, https://forum.noteworthycomposer.com/?topic=942, https://forum.noteworthycomposer.com/?topic=1581 Quote Selected

"I have not heard of a SoundBlaster Vibra, and there is no mention of such a thing on the SoundBlaster site."FYI: The SB Vibra 128 is a cut down version of the PCI 128 sold (I think) only outside the US. AFAIK the main difference to the PCI 128 is lack of 4 speaker support. When I moved to Windows ME, my Vibra 128 gave a few problems at first - system hangs and crashes, but no specifically MIDI problems. A replacement driver available on SB's Asia web site sorted everything out and it all works fine now. Having lurked around the SB PCI 128 newsgroup for a while, I do not recall any midi problems being reported. I therefore suspect that Casey's problem is more likely to be specific to that particular hardware - faulty cable? faulty XP-80? faulty motherboard?, noisy power supply? ...??Stephen Quote Selected
Re: Help with my Roland XP-80! Reply #3 – 2001-04-23 04:00 am alright....i've tried it out on my brother's computer, PIII 450, with SB Live value.....but i got the same result....anyway, i'll explain my problem:ok, i have a midi cable, 15 pin at one end, the other end is midi out and midi in, i've connected the 'midi in' to keyboard's 'midi out', 'midii out' to keyboard's 'midi in'.i've install NoteWorthy Composer, and also a cakewalk 8.0, even with my brother's computer with the SB live's software (keyboard function in the audio HQ)no matter which software i use, with a proper setting, the computer will result the same thing when i play on the keyboard, which is while i look at my keyboard's screen, the sound keep changing, from piano to violin, piccolo and so on...sometimes it even don't respond a sound or just hold the note.well......that's all i think. Re: Help with my Roland XP-80! Reply #4 – 2001-04-23 04:00 am Well, you obviously have a fault somewhere. Since it happens on multiple computers, you know its not the computer. Are you sure you have the cables connected properly (out and in labels on MIDI equipment are not always consistent)? What happens when you play from the PC out to the keyboard? Quote Selected
