swing 8th notes 2000-02-22 05:00 am Does anyone know how to make NWC playback swing 8th notes? If you write it in triplet form it just doesn't sound quite right. Any ideas? Quote Selected
Re: swing 8th notes Reply #1 – 2000-02-22 05:00 am The best (only?) way is to have tempo changes in each bar to give whatever swing effect you want. Sounds scary, but it's really not; once you have one bar the way you want it, just copy it and paste new copies of it to your heart's content. Dominique Portier wrote an excellent User Tip on the subject called, IIRC, "NWC plays Jazz". Quote Selected
Re: swing 8th notes Reply #2 – 2000-02-25 05:00 am Thanx Fred :-)I'm having too much work for now so couldn't reply. The exact link is http://www.noteworthysoftware.com/composer/usertip6.htm#jazzNote that the solutions I provide in jazzy.zip are just examples. jazzy1.nwc is roughly 2/3|1/3, and jazzy2.nwc 3/4|1/4. Both are with a "normal" tempo of quarter=100 bpm.The values to give to the tempi depend on the "normal" value and the swing effect you want, please refer to the tip.If someone think it's useful, I can give a CGI|javascript|program which gives you the values automatically. I've already made a spreadsheet in XL format for this.don't hesitate to contact me!Jazzily yours,Dominique Quote Selected
Re: swing 8th notes Reply #3 – 2003-05-13 01:31 am My daughter is always complaining about being unable to insert the text symbol for swung eighths on her printouts of swing scores. Is there a font with this on? If not I have made one and will be happy to provide new7.ttf. Lew.Cllucyy@tpg.com.au Quote Selected
