Crescendo/Decrescendo during a long note... help!

Okay, I'll admit defeat... utter defeat and gross frustration!

I have been trying to make NWC do a crescendo or decrescdo whilst a long note is being played but have not had any success over the last few years. That's right, years...

Please, please, please; would someone kindly send me a line of music with 2 whole notes: show me how to make one play a cresendo and the other a decrescendo! I have tried both methods ie the example in VOLTEST.nwc (which does work on my soundcard) and mpc... I have tried and tried but don't understand in the slightest how to use mpc's at all!!

Pssst: I'm trying to do the above for Schubert's string quintet (1st movt); how about my sending it over and perhaps your very kindly putting in those elusive changes in volume for me!!!

Look at the voltest.nwc file, that's all you need to do. Before the note is sounded, there is fff(-,127). This means that velocity is not overridden (that's why the dash instead of a number), but that volume is overridden to 127. At the end of the note is a ppp(-,2). Again, no velocity override (which would be meaningless anyway, since the first note is still sounding), but volume is overridden to 2. The decrescendo in the second bar therefore causes the volume to be smoothly decreased over the course of the second and third bars.

I assume you're using a wavetable soundcard or module (or a software synth).
Because if you're using an FM card/synth - volume changes through a held note don't work - the card only responds to note on velocity.
