Re: Sound font ftp site open Reply #4 – 1999-12-31 05:00 am Matty,> can you tell me how i get onto your ftp siteWell, in theory, you should just type http://ftp://soundfonts:soundfonts@207.140.1.221/into tyour browser and it should connect you. It doesn'twork for me, but that might have something to do with thefirewall I'm behind. Quote Selected
Re: Sound font ftp site open Reply #5 – 1999-12-31 05:00 am Doesn't work for me either (no firewall here), I just get the message "Server not responding." Quote Selected

Re: Sound font ftp site open Reply #9 – 2001-02-12 05:00 am Try using "GetRight Browser" instead of any ftp client or web browser. It works great with download-only ftp connections.Hth Quote Selected

Re: Sound font ftp site open Reply #11 – 2001-02-14 05:00 am Even in GetRight Browser, it sends me that message (in the bottom of the browser) disconnected from server Quote Selected
Re: Sound font ftp site open Reply #12 – 2001-02-14 05:00 am You're right. I tried to enter "soundfonts" for username and password as mentioned at the beginning of the thread but it didn't work.Actually, it was several months ago when I had last logged in and downloaded an amountful of sf's. I have to admit that just a few of them are useful.http://www.hammersound.net appears to be a better resource except for its "strange" cgi download script which causes GetRight confuse handling the process.Regards Quote Selected
Re: Sound font ftp site open Reply #13 – 2001-02-16 05:00 am Thanx Ertugrul for the page, I found it very nice, but this question maybe a little late..... how the heck do I use sound fonts? Quote Selected
Re: Sound font ftp site open Reply #14 – 2001-02-16 05:00 am Artur, your question in the message 13 seems to imply that you don't have a soundcard that supports sound fonts directly. If this is the case, you can still experiment with these using a shareware program called "Audio Compositor" available from http://home.att.net/~audiocompositor/ .If your is indeed sound-font based (the later Sound Blasters) then you might want to spend some time with the documentation and help files for a rundown on this. Re: Sound font ftp site open Reply #15 – 2001-02-17 05:00 am do you know if Awe32 does that? Quote Selected
Re: Sound font ftp site open Reply #16 – 2001-02-17 05:00 am Yes. A search on Google for "AWE32 soundfonts" turns up lots of results. Quote Selected
Re: Sound font ftp site open Reply #17 – 2001-02-17 05:00 am If your AWE32 has an expansion slot on the side of the card you can add 30 pin SIMMS in pairs.2x2Mb, 2x4Mb or 2x16Mb.A pair of 4Mb SIMMS are the easiest to find and cost less than $10US - with these you can load an 8Mb soundfont. The cost of a pair of 16Mb SIMMS (if you can find them)is the nearly the cost of an SB Live value card.So if you want to use soundfonts larger than 8Mb you'd be better off with a new Live card.Try http://www.hammersound.net and search the Soundfont Collections on the site.
