Sound Modules R the BEST 2002-05-31 03:12 pm Im sure most of you have heard of Sound Modules. Anyway... for those who have no idea what Sound Modules are, they are a combination of MIDI and WAV.MIDI Files only contain instrument definations and require the synthesizer to play. The problem is all synthesizers sound different from eachother. Bescides its not easy to convert MIDI to WAV. This MIDI to WAV conversion issue always goes on by many musicians.Sound Modules not only contain the instrument definations but also the Instrument Samples. So that makes them independant and will sound perfect on any soundcard. There are different types of Sound Modules...IT - ImpulseTracker Sound ModuleXM - FastTracker Sound ModuleS3M - ScreamTracker Sound ModuleMOD - ProTracker Sound ModuleThey can be played using Winamp (http://www.winamp.com). Re: Sound Modules R the BEST Reply #1 – 2002-06-03 08:42 am Info or spam? No link to NWC, excepted if someone explains how to make such files with NWC.In fact we just need to export the NWC as a MIDI file, and then transform the midi to SoundModule form.I know that FineMidi 1.02 (a russian freeware program) does this!I don't know where to find it (excepted on my disk) now, but on 5th of January, 1999, it was reported as:Eugene PeshekhonovFidoNet: 2:5009/3.77 AKA 2:5009/5.7E-Mail : eugene_p@chat.ruYou may also search the net for "Mid2XM" software (not free).S3M... This brings me back to the time when we started Windows 3.0 in real "protected" mode... and when processors where still named with numbers such as 80386!!!Note: with SoundModules, that's right, the other people will hear the music as you hear it on your machine!
