The "I wish" list

I am with a drumline and heres what i would like to see:
No midi snare that sounds like crap!
real bass drums
and some crash cyms
sixes
fives
eights
thats all!

As has been pointed out many times before in the forum, the sound you hear does not depend on NoteWorthy at all, but entirely on your MIDI tone module (keyboard or hardware synth) or your software synthesizer.  NoteWorthy, like other notation or sequencing software, does not actually generate sounds but sends the list of sounds to be generated on to your synthesizer.  (Finale, Sibelius, and Harmony Assistant being exceptions but only because they have their own software synthesizers integrated into the program at a much higher cost)  So, either get a better soundcard on your computer, get a decent MIDI keyboard with a MIDI interface for your computer (I suggest Yamaha for by far the best sound for the money, say a PSR-292 about $180 and any 1X1 USB MIDI interface, say MIDIman's for about $50) or try a demo of Edirol's softsynths.  Sadly, Yamaha discontinued their excellent and VERY inexpensive ($50) S-YXG50 softsynth.

As far as "sixes, fives, and eights" go, once you have a decent MIDI module, try using Melodic Tom as a start for the instrument or even Timpani.  Trial and error gets the best results.

Using channel 10 but choosing acoustic grand piano works well for drum sounds.

Why?
There may be other drum kits on other patches that may be of interest.

Don't know why, but it was a clue someone else gave me, and it works.  Very well.

You might try these on your system.
They are available with the Chaos 8Mb soundfont.
Some are available on GS compatible cards - some also on GM cards.
The patch numbers are 0 based you may have to add 1 on your system (Try both)
