Re: Stem length Reply #1 – 2003-04-25 03:07 pm As of NWC1.75 right now, there is no internal way to shorten note stems, unless you reduce the size of the entire staff. If your composition is short, you can externally edit WMFs with a compatible drawing program or some word processors. (If this doesn't mean anything to do, then forget it, since it's an advanced technique.)Shorter stems is a frequent "wish list" item, and it may be the case that the capability will be added sometime. But I don't work for NWC; that's just my wish, too. Quote Selected
Re: Stem length Reply #2 – 2003-04-26 10:50 am Thanks Robert. Hope that wish list becomes a reality soon. It's been a couple of years in the works, I think, by reading other requests.Pierre Quote Selected
Re: Stem length Reply #3 – 2003-04-26 03:02 pm And how does one read other requests on the wish list?Every time I go there, it just wants to know what my wish is, but I wanna see other wishes, too. Quote Selected
Re: Stem length Reply #4 – 2003-04-27 05:44 pm You can't. NWC shows wishes granted, but seems to prefer to keep wishes and other ideas out of the public view. I don't have a concern about that - it makes business sense. Quote Selected
Re: Stem length Reply #5 – 2003-05-02 11:47 am Funny I was just looking up the subject of the wish list being visible, the other day. It was about 6 years ago that the last thread seemed to burn out. Has Noteworthy ever said why it can't grant this wish? It'd be really good to know whether someone else has already thought of the same wish. We could always start a sort of wish list thread our selves where we could state our wishes and refine them before adding them to the "official" list.If the list ever became visible it would have to be grouped like the user tip list is already.Any comments? Re: Stem length Reply #6 – 2003-05-02 02:14 pm Noteworthy is the only software company I'm aware of, who even maintains a public "wish-list" feature. So I don't think there are any precedents to compare against. But I think that if I were running a software company, I'd probably not make the wishlist results public either. As David implies, it would not make good business sense to do so. Let's say someone posted a wish for something extremely difficult to implement -- let's say automatic OCR scoring from a gif or jpg image. A visible wish like this would get lots of "votes" from people who would agree, "Yeah, that would be way cool! I want it too!" As a result, the more reasonable wishes would be relatively lost in a wash of more ludicrous requests. Quote Selected
Re: Stem length Reply #7 – 2003-05-02 06:40 pm Worse, unless only registered users could vote, the public wish list would be flooded with requests from freeloaders. For example, there is a current thread in which someone using the free trial version wants to know if there is a (free) Mac version. In a related vein, I have been upgrading my web pages. One of the validation programs issues so many warnings about trivial things (which I have no intention of changing) that it makes the overall effect rather useless.NWC users seem to be a mix of novices (esp. music learners) and more advanced musicians. Wishes will differ. Quote Selected
Re: Stem length Reply #8 – 2003-05-04 01:09 am The good thing about the wish list being hidden is that if you have an idea and see it on a wish list already, you might not make the suggestion. If you can't see that it's already been posted, you'll post it, and NWC staff can then judge how much demand there is for something. Quote Selected
