cresc & decresc hairpins

I've noticed that the default is to place the hairpins below the staves. Is there any way of moving them up or down to get them out of tangling with the note stems? Back in the 1.75 NWC version there was a hairpin font that could be controlled for placement. It would be nice to be able to move these haipins above the staves in certain cases by picking on the hairpin node and dropping it where I want it to be. Any comments?

The hairpin's vertical location is controlled by the most recent previous dynamic marking in the score. This may be a number of measures back. To move the hairpin up or down, move the dynamic up or down. You can place a dynamic with visibility set to never directly before the hairpin and move that, if you want the hairpin and the previous dynamic in different vertical locations.

While you shouldn't need it anymore (see Bill's reply), that font, cresc.zip, is still available on the Scriptorium http://nwc-scriptorium.org/helpful.html#Fonts

Thanks, everyone. I should have looked at some of the earlier responses before posting this query. Is there a mention of this "trick" in the manual somewhere?

Indirectly. In Crescendo Command and Diminuendo Command it says:
Quote
[It] will appear on the staff in the same vertical position as the most recent prior Dynamic or Dynamic Variance
I use Rinforzando for this.

The Rinforzando and Sforzando styles are ignored during MIDI play back.
