Notating notes without pitches? 2008-04-25 11:18 pm Hello,I'm writing a chart for big band in NWC. I need to know if there is a way to make notes without pitches (to be used for rhythmic band "hits"). This is usually notated with an 'x' in place of a note head.Does anyone have a suggestion for how to accomplish this in NWC? Quote Selected

It won't work for beamed notes.Place a quarter note with the head at the right place and make it invisible. Then make two text entries just before it. The first one is simply x, in Page Small font, and the other is the "pipe" sign |, in Page font with a couple of leading blank spaces. The pipe sign is likely found where the right-hand little finger can get to it; if it isn't just a vertical line, it will look like a colon made up of two vertical dashes instead of just dots.Set the text properties to align=centre and position=at next note. You can simply copy the note and the two text bits to any place you need them in the score.
