Making notes Trill

How do you make the notes trill? I tried everything, but I can't figure it out.

The easiest way is to write the trill as a series of alternating short notes on a second staff, which will be used for playback but not be displayed.

Make sure that the new playback staff has the same midi setting as the original visible staff, and mute the notes on the visible staff.

Your visible staff will show

!NoteWorthyComposerClip(2.0,Single)
|Clef|Type:Treble
|TimeSig|Signature:4/4
|Note|Dur:Whole|Pos:1^|Opts:Muted
|Bar
|Note|Dur:Whole|Pos:1|Opts:Muted
!NoteWorthyComposerClip-End

Your invisible staff will play

Hi, Dskip.

I find that trills generally sound best if the notes are tripletised - and I usually start with a small chunk of "the" note itself, then a suitable number of tripletised shorter notes back and forth between one a semitone up and "the" note (the combination having the length of "the" note").

Ok how do I mute a single note for the trill to sound right? And MusicJohn, I don't understand. What do you mean tripletised?

To mute a note, highlight it and press Control and E.  A properties dialogue box will pop up, and in its Notes tab, you just click the Muted box.

MusicJohn is essentially describing what's in my example, starting with a longer note and then smaller notes, made into triplets.  This gives the effect of a properly performed trill, by starting slower and speeding up.

Tripletized just means to use triplets, i.e., three notes played in the time of two.  To do that, highlight any group of notes that can be divided evenly by three, then press Control and T.
