I'm trying to show glisses for rolling reed lines, using Boxmark2 as User Font 2. This layout of text characters displays the glissandos between the half notes in each bar, if I also have a staff like the piano right hand visible:

When I display the staff by itself, in either the edit or print preview windows, the glisses overlap the second note in each bar.
I would appreciate any suggestions how to fix this, since I will be printing individual parts.
