Can't hear anything!!

My computer's hard drive recently crashed, and I've had to install absolutely everything back onto it. One thing that I can't seem to find is the General Midi instrument for the midi section in Control Panel, so when I play the songs in Noteworthy, the notes light up as though they are playing, but no sound is coming out. It isnt a problem with volume controls, and I was wondering if there are any reliable sites from which you can download quality midi instruments for use on the computer. Thanks very much

If you cannot hear anything in NWC, then the primary MIDI device that you have selected for play back is either not working, or has the volume turned down. Make sure that you select only one device for use in play back, then try each device, one at a time. If one of them works, then you are done. If none work, you need to try to find the correct MIDI driver for your system. See if you have a driver CD for your system.

Check your operating system settings for sound as well -

-right click your speaker icon in the system tray, select  adjust audio properties and make sure the audio settings show a preferred device.

-then right click the speaker icon again, and open "play control," make sure the midi setting is not muted.
