transpose to different key 2003-12-22 05:26 pm My children have music that was written for choir that needs to be transfered for flute and alto or tenor sax arrangements. I have never been on this site before but am hoping that it will be able to help. Can you point me in the direction to get started? Thanks! I will be checking this site for the next few days as we need it by the 24th. Quote Selected
Re: transpose to different key Reply #1 – 2003-12-22 06:13 pm Flutes read in concert pitch so don't need to be transposed.Tenor saxes need to read 14 semitones higher than the sound. So a choir middle C would be written as a 4th line D for tenor sax. Use Tools Transpose +14Alto sax is only 9 semitones - Use Tools Transpose +9 Quote Selected
Re: transpose to different key Reply #2 – 2003-12-23 01:26 am Depending on the range of the original, you may want to transpose the flute part +12.Try it untransposed first, but if it sounds too low for the flute (even if it is technically within range), take it up an octave. Quote Selected
Re: transpose to different key Reply #3 – 2003-12-25 04:49 am I have a hunch Audrey knows whereof she speaks. It may be coincidence, but Gemeinhardt is a major flutemaker - check out its website athttp://www.gemeinhardt.com/story/ourStory.htmlMerry Christmas, all. Quote Selected
