copy/paste functions

What I have been particularly noticing lately in NWC is that it lacks some flexibility in its copy/paste functions. Now what do I mean with that. When for instance one deceides to paste a part of a song into another one, were he believes it fits better, one has to go through the process of copying each stave separately, lets say between bars 134 and 158. Now when a few staves are to be copied this is fairly easy. However it becomes tedious and troublesome when alot of instruments are involved. Moreover, a certain degree of error is possible which, as most of us know, can break all Hell loose.

Since NWC is based on the word processor format (I think?), in which one can drag the mouse pointer from point A to point B, thus selecting a number of lines for an action, why not make that possible in NWC too? Why not drag from a certain point not only across, but down as well?

I will place this on the wish list. I just wanted also to hear the opinion of others on this issue too.

What is curious in the recent and current versions of NWC is that this function is available when you do a Copy Special for insertion into another application.

You have the option to include the selected portion of the current staff or the selected portion of the entire score.

Yes - I'd support this as a wish list item.
But PLEASE do add it to your wish list Sterghios - not just here.

you're right, it could be useful and less subject to (human) errors.
There is a good turnaround that I use when having this kind of work to do. I use (once more) the macro recorder to record the actions I make (without the mouse, which I dislike anyway) on the first (pair of) staff, and then I replay it after having moved to next staff.
For instance: you want to copy measures 9-12 (chorus in a song for example) from 4 staves to 4 others.
Go to the first staff. Start macro recorder. Then use Ctrl-G to go directly to measure 9. Shift-right four times. Ctrl-Insert (or Ctrl-C). Go to the "destination" staff using page down (or page up, if over). Use Ctrl-G, enter the measure number you want to go to, use Shift-Insert (or Ctrl-V) to paste. Then go back to the "from" staff. Stop macro recorder (Ctrl-Break or with the mouse).
Now go to the next staff where you want to do the same, and run the macro you just recorded. (This supposes that the same number of staves separate each "from -- to" pair.)

P.S. Though it may be a BIG part of programming, if "vertical" usability in NWC could grow it could even be version 2... since it would change drastically from the current ones.

Indeed... Yet judging from the time that has passed since the last version update, I feel that we all should start saving up... (Hopefully not for much more...). By the way (THIS GOES TO THE NWC SUPPORT GROUP), I hope that version 1.* owners will be charged MUCH LESS for upgrading to 2.* when this arrives. Oh, and if a version 2.0 does come to life, it better differ substantially from 1.55, unlike windows 95 and 98 (i.e. please adhere to the value for money rule, please?).

Sterghios - Let us not forget that NWC has been providing really big value for little money for a long time now.
Unlike Windows it doesn't suffer from bloat, is continually upgraded and you have direct access to the vendor.
(When was the last time Bill Gates personally replied to a user request?)
If the next version of NWC provides multi-measure rests I'd be happy to pay the full registration fee whether it's V1.6 or V2.

Hear Hear! Both for multiple-staff select, and the good value that Noteworthy Composer is. I would also be willing to pay for a significant upgrade.
