beaming bar at same height?

Is it possible to layer the beaming bars at the same height?
In this setting it is difficult to see if it is an 8th or a 16th note.

I do not want to stem up the entire staff, because the next step in the production of my file is to layer the first staff onto the second (and third) staff, Staff 1 is a treble voice.

Hope my question is clear enough.

This is fairly easy to do. You just need to adjust the stem lengths of the downward beamed notes in the middle staff. See the following clip:

I believe there are one or more user tools which automate this process, but I don't recall their names. I'll let their authors describe them.
