Creating prof-sounding music-files from NWC2

Hi

This is a "dummy-sort-of" question, following my first experiences with orchestrated music for a short movie, discussed under "General Discussion" - (topic: Wrong sounds in orchestral score -  https://forum.noteworthycomposer.com/?topic=8488.0).

I need a much better sound output than I have, using Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth. AND - yes, I have seen the many good instructions in the Scriptorium and elsewhere. And I will study all of that!

Just thought that someone might point me in the right direction, when I tell you I use Windows 7, 64bit.

I feel good about what´s written about Hammersound and the SoundFont file to use with the BASSMIDI SoundFont Compatible MIDI Synthesizer
Driver (by Rcik Nagel). But I´m open to anything.

Thanks for any advice!

You might take a look at VirtualMIDISynth (google it!).  It's easy to install and I've found it runs well even on relatively low-power systems.  You'll need to download a soundfont (I like Arachno) and configure VirtualMIDISynth to use it.  Tell Noteworthy Composer to use it (Tools -> Options -> Midi and you should be well on your way.

I just found a solution, that seems ok for a start.
CoolSoft VirtualMIDISynth: http://coolsoft.altervista.org/en/virtualmidisynth#download
and this set of sounds:
FluidR3 soundfont (144 MB): www.synthfont.com/SoundFonts/FluidR3_GM.sfArk
It took me a little while to unzip and install properly, but it works fine.
It takes NWC2 a few seconds to start playback, though, compared to when I used Microsoft GS Wavetable. But that´s not a big problem.
