MIDI Controllers 1998-09-21 04:00 am Is there any way, using NWC or any (freeware) program to add Specific MIDI controllers (specifically chorus and reverbe) to a midi or nwc file. (Need to add it to midi file to make it sound good when rendered from a midi file to a wav file) I'm really talking any possible way in the whole world (even would accept hexadecimal editing if someone knew what to change) Quote Selected
Re: MIDI Controllers Reply #1 – 1998-09-21 04:00 am Most midi card producers send some sort of midi processor along with the card. Most will do what you require. See what you've got. Also, check the "back issues" (off-line version) of this forum and the newsgroup, as someone posted a midi-text-midi converter somewhile back.A Quote Selected
Re: MIDI Controllers Reply #2 – 1998-09-22 04:00 am Yes, go to http://ftp://ftp.cs.ruu.nl/pub/MIDI/PROGRAMS/MSDOS/ and download mf2t.zipThis zipfile contains both mf2t.exe (midi-file to text) and t2mf (text to midi-file) along with instructions. A good default usage is:mf2t -mntv [source.mid] [dest.txt]I use it lots, for exactly that kind of "fine tuning". Quote Selected
Re: MIDI Controllers Reply #3 – 1998-09-22 04:00 am There are several utilities at a site called Günter Nagler's midi utilities http://www2.iicm.edu/CpubThe files for this task are midi2txt.zip and txt2midi.zip. Wouldn't be surprised if these are the same ones Fred mentioned. Chris probably knows, but others may not, that after conversion of midi to text, you can use a text editor to make changes where you know what you are doing. Finish up by converting the edited text file back to midi.Gene Quote Selected
Re: MIDI Controllers Reply #5 – 1998-09-22 04:00 am No, these aren't the same program. Guenter's programs seem to have a couple additional options. What a cool site! There's a whole whack of midi utilities, ideal for consummate midi hackers. Thanks for the lead! Quote Selected
Re: MIDI Controllers Reply #6 – 1998-09-22 04:00 am Fred or anyone,Has anybody come up with a utility that will let you directly edit the embedded title text in a midi file. The midi2txt | edit | txt2midi sequence in DOS is a bit much. Most of Günter's utilities require command line parameters, which is messy because DOS can't handle long filenames. What I'm trying to say is that my typing skills are not all that good.Gene Quote Selected
Re: MIDI Controllers Reply #7 – 1998-09-23 04:00 am Umm.. not that I can think of. You're looking for a point-and-click GUI to do this. You could possibly automate the procedure somewhat by using macros, but the added complexity might not be worth it.NWC support - maybe there's a market for such a beastie for Windows??? Quote Selected
