Problem with accessing roland gs instruments

I am having a problem. Before I got service pack 1 for Vista, if I used the staff properties to select the Synth Bass 1 instrument and check the Bank Select box, and change Controller 0 into 8, Noteworthy would play the Synth Bass 3 sound for the staff I change. However, after getting service pack 1 for Vista this no longer works. It just plays the Synth Bass 1 sound instead of Synth Bass 3. Does anyone know how to get Synth Bass 3 to work, and/or why this happens? I am using Microsoft Midi Mapper for playback, and I have tried using Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth in the options but that doesn't work either.

Don't know if it's conencted or not, but I have recently purchased a laptop with Vista. The laptop did not have SP1 and so I downloaded and installed. This  partially knocked out some fuctionality supplied by the sound drivers.  I had to re-install all of the sound drivers supplied before I was able to do the same things as before.

I would recommend that you try this, but you may as well, at the same time, look to see if there are any updated drivers and install those.

Rich.

I have already reinstalled the drivers, and they are up to date.
