Playback on entry has wrong instrument

If, for example, I create a new alto saxophone staff, as I enter the notes I hear the playback as (probably) grand piano. Please note that this is the 'play note on entry' feature, not playback of the staff, per se. This is disconcerting - it does not help to 'think saxophone tone' as one is entering notes.

Is there a fix for this?

The only thing you really need to do is start play back at the area around your insertion point, then stop it about 2 seconds later. Voila, the instrument settings at this point in your score are initialized into your MIDI device.

Background: NWC2 sends the added note to the proper MIDI device and channel that matches the staff when using this feature. It does not, however, send patch changes in this process. This is because some synthesizers have a brief choke period after a patch change, which would have a negative impact on the play back sound. You can still get most of the benefits of this feature in the proper instrument by simply initiating play back briefly, then pressing stop. After this, the correct instrument patch should be initialized into each staff's MIDI device and channel.
