note duration

Is there a way to select an entire tune and then double all the note durations?
This is for a tune imported from a downloaded Midi file; if I could quickly simplify the notes it would be much easier to read, even if it would still need some interpretation/adjustment to sound more like the tune as played live.

Hi Harriet,
the answer is yes!

If you highlight the entire staff (<Home>, <Shift-End>) and press the "+" key it will double all durations - with a limit.  Once a note reaches semibreve duration it will no longer increase.  BTW the reverse also works ("-" key).

If there are any semibreves you might be well advised to convert these to tied minims first.

If the import is more than one staff, you will need to do this for each staff.

Exactly.
I worked the other way around, and found this:
- I had to change the tied halves to wholes;
- All whole rests had been changed into half rests - whereas they had to stay as rests-for-the-duration-of-the-bar.
And all time signatures had to be changed accordingly.

But Byrd's Kyrie is more legible now, say our choir members.

It might be something for the wish list: a whole rest within a bar says whole when '-' is pressed. Might it not?
