Re: Page breaks Reply #1 – 2004-12-14 08:55 pm How to force one -In the 'File' menu under 'page setup/fonts' set a user defined font to, say, 10000 points! (it works). I used the default Times Roman.Set a system break on the top stave as usual.Immediately before in the previous bar insert a non-breaking space (Alt 0160)in the extremely large font.Set the properties for the new text item to 'preserve width'.Done.The right choice of size can force the overlow. Re: Page breaks Reply #2 – 2004-12-15 08:07 am Another way is to play around with staff vertical sizes and forced system breaks. For two pagers, it's not complicated. For pieces that will span 3 pages or more, the results might not be as easy to get.See also reply 11 in article #4091 Quote Selected
Re: Page breaks Reply #3 – 2004-12-15 07:31 pm Changing margins and vertical staff sizes is not always an option.I am re-setting Stainer's Crucixion for publication and consistency is important. What I need is to be able to choose what appears on a page so when copied to an EMF file it can become a new page in the book.If I can get a particular system to appear at the top of a page then by repeating the process at the final copy-out stage I can get the systems in order with bar numbers. By selectively hiding staves the work can appear in a very tidy form. I don't care if part of the page is to be discarded or layered over when placed in the publication, but I do need to get the top right so I can do the placement and layering. As each page is copied out separately the appearnce of the page with the forced break is irrelevant. Re: Page breaks Reply #4 – 2004-12-16 04:17 am I agree a proper page break feature is very much needed in NWC2.If I'm right in guessing you have an immediate need to print something to use right now, here's a possible workaround. It's not elegant, but should work.Save the file several times, using slight variations of the name, i.e. File1.nwc, File2.nwc, etc.Open File1.nwc, figure out where each page should end, and delete everything after that point. Suppress page numbering (File/Page Setup/Options), save it and print.Open File2.nwc, suppress the title page info and page numbering, and delete everything up to the first desired page break and everything after the second desired page break. Save it and print.Open File3.nwc, suppress the title page info and page numbering, then delete everything up to the second desired page break and everything after the third one. Save it and print. Continue in a similar manner for the succeeding pages. Quote Selected
