Staff System with varying numbers of staves

Hey All! Does anyone have a decent method for printing music from NWC with varying numbers of staves per system. In a four part choral piece with piano accompaniment. for instance there may be an extended interlude of piano without chorus. To save paper, ink, etc. it would be useful to print the piano part without four staves full of rests above it. Short of printing from two separate files and playing with the spacing on particular pages is there a different way to accomplish this?

I have the same problem with a choral piece where the t,b,a,s have different lyrics and rythm in a small part of the song. There should be a way to sort this out but I have no solution so far... Maybe somebody else does??
