dotted half notes

I am new to Noteworthy Composer in that I played with it awhile a few years ago; discovered it was difficult for me; then set it aside for awhile.

I love music (and creating it); so, I purchased Noteworthy Composer recently.  Now, I open it and am trying to understand the very basics of preparing a musical score.

First problem:  Can't even find a dotted half note.

Is there any tutorial on creating a simple musical score that uses all the different notes?

Actually, NWC doesn't have "dotted notes." Instead, you apply the dot as an added feature to a note. You can apply the dot at the same time you insert the note, or retroactively apply the dot (or remove it).

For example, if you hit 2 then period on you keyboard, NWC will insert the next note as a dotted half. By default, the 2 will reamin effective for further notes, but the period (dot) will not. However, you can change this behavior, if you want to insert a series of dotted notes.

You can also choose the note duration, and dot, from the little icons that appear above the music.

You can make an existing un-dotted note dotted, or vice-versa, by highlighting the note, then toggle the little dot icon.
