MIDI Import Changed the Time Signature

I recently found it necessary to import a MIDI file from the internet into NWC.  The original piece is in 6:8 time, but when NWC imported the downloaded file it was changed  to 4:4.  The resulting note values and rhythmic notations were so skewed it took much longer to clean up than it should have.  Is there a way to tell NWC to import in 6:8, or whtever the original time signature is?  I examined the MIDI import Wizard pretty thoroughly and couldn't find a way.  Perhaps I'm just blind.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

If the import results in a time signature of 4/4, then the MIDI file either specifies a time signature of 4/4 within it, or it does not contain any time signature at all. When no time signature is present in the MIDI file, NWC assumes the file to be in 4/4 time.

This is what I did:
I started Noteworthy; new file; insert 6/8, entered 6 (eighth) notes and a tab, and then a few more bars. Then, I saved this as a Type 1 Midi-file, and closed the 'song'. Next, I opened the Midi-file. In the Wizard, I simply typed <enter> for every question. The result is, as expected, 6/8. See for yourself!

I suggest that you do this, if you can: edit the Midi-file, if you can, copy/paste the 6/8 time signature for the file described above, and save. Now try the import again. Should work!
