Scanning Sheet Music

Does anyone know of a software that will allow me to scan sheet music into the computer and translate it into either NWC format or MIDI format? That would save me loads of typing!

I have used several scanning (OCR) programs, all with poor results. In fact, they were so bad, it was faster to enter the notes on a new document rather than try to fix what was gotten from scanning.

One program I tried was OMER which is made to use with another notation shareware Melody Assistant. Because it was being discussed on a website where I am a columnist, the manufacturer really worked with me trying to help solve the problem... no luck. I tried everything, all sorts of resolution settings, just got garbage.

I have the latest Finale 2001, which has a built in scanning/OCR feature. I got ONE usable scan after trying it for several months. Nothing I did ever made any difference.
Now maybe it is just stupidity on my part... but I like to think of myself as above average. But I can't make them work. I would like to see a demonstration by a software supplier and see it proven. I would love to be proven wrong , but I think this is a waste of time with the current programs.
