Supressing Empty Staves 1997-10-12 04:00 am Does anyone knnow if there is a way to supress (keep from printing) staves that are empty? Many of my songs have parts that are silent for quite some time, and it would be nice if a staff would be removed from the system if it is empty clear across the page. (Example: most published vocal/piano scores do not have the vocal staff in the system during the intro/ending/interlude/whatever if the vocal staff would be empty clear across the page for that particular system) I've started combining staves if the parts do not play simultaniously anywhere in the composition, which reduces some of the staves per system, but that isn't always an option. Can it be done with NWC yet? If not, I hope it will be soon! Quote Selected

Re: Supressing Empty Staves Reply #2 – 1997-11-10 05:00 am Supressing empty staves when printing is a concern of mine as well. I hope this feature will be added soon. I would also like to be able to insert a graphic dynamic variance instead of the words crescendo, decrescendo etc. Quote Selected
Re: Supressing Empty Staves Reply #3 – 1997-11-24 05:00 am I have the same problem with soloist/choir during versesand choruses too much space is spent with rest-filledstaffs appearing along with the solo-verses. Quote Selected

Re: Supressing Empty Staves Reply #5 – 2001-01-16 05:00 am You can get what you want by filling up a staff with rests and barlines and then hiding everything. (Select everything and hit <Ctrl-E> to edit. In the "Visibility" tab set "Show on printed page" to "Never".) Quote Selected
Re: Supressing Empty Staves Reply #6 – 2001-01-16 05:00 am You could try transferring you composition as WMF into a word processing program, then crop out what you don't want. Then print it from the word processor. Quote Selected
Re: Supressing Empty Staves Reply #7 – 2003-06-16 12:34 am What is the best word processor to use in order to do this? I am using Microsoft word and I can't seem to be able to move, delete or disconnect a staff very easily from the document as they're all grouped together.ie. I try to move a stave and I end up moving the whole thing around.NOTE: I am also using word to convert midi drumkit sounds to standard drum notation with X note-heads (the NWCX font) using a search and replace. This works quite well, except on a full band score with chorus and soloists its can be quite tedious. Quote Selected
