Midi for music programs

Hi,ive got Cubase SX and Reason 2 installed on my pc.These are music programs and you can use a keyboard to play sounds through these programs.I have the midi cable connected but my computer isnt recognising it.My pc has had a few problems recently and ive been told that a driver may need to be made active in the BIOS settings but i dont know how to access them.If anyone understands my problem then please could you let me know what to do.Thanks,Garry!!

There is much prior discussion on the topic of getting MIDI cables to work (or not, as the case may be) between your PC and an external MIDI keyboard. Although it is often written in the context of NoteWorthy Composer, the concepts generally apply in other software as well. Use the search engine to find out more.
