Byzantine upgrade procedures

I need to download the 1.75 upgrade, but the problem is that my development machine does not have a net connection and my internet box doesn't have a CD-ROM burner. What's the recommended procedure for downloading on one machine for installation on another?

The installation asks me to verify that I'll save this copy of the installation wizard. Before knowing that, I need to know: will it fit on a floppy?

Until recently, I always downloaded or upgraded NWC via "someone else's machine" since mine was not connected to the Internet. It always fit on a floppy for transfer, easily. Still does.

Thanks. I believe I'm OK now. Instead of the "upgrade" page I looked at the "downloads" page, which provides a half-meg file that "requires my CD to INSTALL" (not to download).

Well, that's no problem, the CD is with the machine where I want to install, and the file fits on a floppy.

It's been a while since I upgraded. There are two kinds of software you don't upgrade: stuff that will still be virus-vector-riddled unstable unreliable garbage even after all the fixes are provided (you know who you are, Mr. Gates), and stuff for which the old version works just fine already (and thank you, Mr. NWC). But I got some files from a user of the latest version.

the old version works just fine already ...

Indeed. Some people will never need to beam over a rest.

Others have been waiting for this since 1996 (thank you, Eric).

I usually find a rest is a good enough reason to beam ;-)

The only trouble is, now that you can beam over rests, I feel obliged to go back and modify all my files that don't have beams!
