MIDI keyboard to a AWE64 sound card. No transmission detected.

Hello.
I've bought recently a YAMAHA keyboard (PSR-260) and I wanted to connect it to my PC to transmit the notes to the NoteWorthy Composer directly from it.
I've been reading the tricks and pieces of advice that were given in the forum, but there's no way to make my PC read the notes.
I've connected, as I read here, the MIDI out cable to the MIDI IN entrance of the keyboard, and the same for the other way. When I do this, the keyboard stops giving any sound from its loud speakers when I press any key on it.
I've configured the Note Worthy program as you recommended here, with Synth [620] as midi out device and [330] to MIDI in.
Then, when I press the record button on the program, it stays like waiting for any input, but the keys pressed in the keyboard don't transmit any information to the program.
What I am doing wrong?

Hint 1-> With this configuration, I can't here anything through the keyboard's speakers, (nor the MIDI files), but when I switch off the PC, the typical switching off sound from windows sounds through them!!

Hint 2-> When I put the cables MIDI IN to MIDI IN ,and MIDI OUT to MIDI OUT, I can here the keyboard (piano) sounding.

I may sound very inexpert with my questions. That's the truth. I am. That's way I need your help. Thanks a lot before hand. And excuse me about my terrible English.

Focus on play back first. When you can play something in NWC and hear it playing on the PSR-260, then you know that your cables are hooked up properly.

Now, turn on Tools | MIDI Input Active and press some keys on your PSR-260. If you do not see any notes show up in NWC, then either:

  • (most likely) your MIDI input driver/hardware (on your computer) is not working, or

  • your PSR-260 MIDI out port is not working, or

  • (least unlikely) the input side of your MIDI cable is faulty

First of all, thanks for answering so soon.

I've been trying your recomendations, but there's no way to fix the problem. I think that my computer doesn't recognise the synth[330] input or the output. When I configure the Control Pannel-> Multimedia ->MIDI settings with MIDI 330 Out as the exit of the signal, no sound is reproduced in my Yamaha keyboard. Nevertheless, when I configure it as Synth [620] it sounds perfectly through the speakers of the PC.
And there's no problem with the cables or the connections, because I could hear the exit sound of windows throug the keyboard while swithching off the PC.
I'll keep on trying different combinations. I won't surrender.
