Composing SATB

I have 4 staves, one each for SATB.  However, I didn't use the template and so when I play the piece, the notes sound alike instead of being in the proper vocal range.  How can I indicate that a particular staff should be a given voice part?  I appreciate any help you can offer to this newbie.

Pressing F2 brings up the staff properties bar.  You can name the staff, set the staffs up in various groups, change the bar lines, etc.  On top of that you can set the transposition from the pitch you see to a different one, i.e., if you want the music to sound an octave lower than what you see on the screen, you can set the transposition to 12 or -12 (I forget which).  And you can set each staff to a differet instrument, so you can pick out on playback which "voice" is playimg what.

When you put in a treble clef for men use the "octave down" under the "octave" shift option. The normal treble clef should be in the right range for women and the the bass clef should be in the right range for men.
