recording problems

I can't get recording work properly. I have two PC's with their soundcards connected (crossing midi cable) NWC works on both computers. When I start playing back one of them the other starts recording spontaniously all played tracks to a single track in quarter notes only, even if there are only some empy staves present. This process can not be stopped only by stopping the playing computer.
