Sound Blaster Audigy Platinum Ex

Is this a good one to pick? I would think it would be..

I do not know about the audigy platinium Ex, I myself use The Sound Blaster Platinum Live! and I am most SATISFIED (See www.creative.com)Hope I helped

hi, ive been usuing the sound blaster audigy 2 platinum.
although it has very high hopes... it does not perform as one would like.  A.)you can only get surround output through the analog connections B.) the sound quality, although good only because its a seperate sound processor aside from the main CPU, is still a bit snappy..  if you do not buy creative speakers, you will not get their full "promise" of awsome 24bit/96khz sound.  all in all, a good buy if you stick with all creative products... but im not like that, i recently bought a surround reciever and hooked it up through the optical.. surround signal doesnt go through optical.... hooked it up to the spidf, surround signal is not outputed through that either.... ok great... so now i have to hook it up through the analog ports..Gre4T...there is no digital analog output, just... analog.. or nothing ... so i hook it up and it works fine... to an extent... the crossover sucks.. i get bass in my sattelites for god sakes... so u cant play the bass as high as you would like... and.. yah.. its good if you got maybe a 2.1 system.. and a super expensive klipsch/logitech/creative system.. which you hope will work alright with it...

a few plusses.
it has one digital output jack...BUT i cant seem to find the chord needed...YEAH...anyway if i did. thatd be great but anyways.
it is very nice if you want to do any sound editing, input crap..etc
ive had a relativly easy time transfering tapes to cds and whatknot.. anyway.. good buy if you plan on sticking with the name and doing recordings..
