Forcing Lyrics

I came across an old hymn that I want to redo.  The problem is this:  Say on verse 1, a lyric syllable is a quarter note, but on verse 2, in place of that is 2 lyric syllables sung as 2 eigth notes.  Is there a way, to force a lyric on the second note of a tie?

You can select any note and edit it, then use the Lyric Syllable pulldown to select default behavior, or association with a lyric "never" or "always."

One other thing:

In the Scriptorium, I placed a helpful font file called "NWslurs." It contains, among other things, a selection of slurs/ties that can be used as text items (that is, they have no effect on playback).

You can use a solid or dashed tie for those split notes. My choir frequently has to sing bilingual hmns, where the number of syllables per language is very different. A dashed tie is often used to indicate that the notes are tied for some verses, separated for others.
