Drum Rudiments

Can anyone tell me how to insert a flam, ruff, or a long roll. I've been putting thirty-second notes together for the roll, and it just doesn't sound right.

Whilst it's not in the GM Drum Kits, you may find at F29
(or F17... a low F, anyway) a drum roll sound. Note that
this will not be as portable as using standard midi.

Perhaps you could look at two drum tracks and alternate between
then to see if they'll let the drum roll sound a little more natural.

Otherwise, look at changing the length of the notes (try triplets
or 64ths).

Hope one of these works for ya.

Agreed with Andrew. Use short notes. 7 ticks in MIDI. Put them at tick markers 0,7,15,22,etc... adding 7 and 8 every other time. This will be close to 64ths and keep the velocity of all but the first note low. That's all!
