Imputting Notation with Guitar

Can I use guitar equipped with midi with noteworthy software to imput chords in real time. I would also like to "pick" the melody line? If so, what additional equipment is required? Would Cakewalk be better for this purpose?

There are two ways, 1st is to use the MIDI input active (the keyboard symbol). Each chord you strum will be entered as such, the note length will be determined by the one you have highlighted (minim, crotchet, quaver etc.)

2nd, use a rhythm track (some are there, or make your own), press F4 and pick your tune out in time with the beats. Adjust the Tools -->Import tab for best results depending on the rhythms of the tune. You will have to set your input and output devices differently. If you don't have an output device then you're left with method 1.

Of course you can also entering chords with the 2nd way.
As a matter of fact, everything you play as midi will be recorded.
Even if you make arpeggios of your chords, they may be notated as such; the precision depends on (you of course, ;) and) Tools|Options|ImportTab: NoteResolution and RestResolution.
