Blues Bass 2001-10-23 04:00 am Hi folks, I am using NWC as an aid to learning bass. I am studying blues which has a shuffle feel to it. The music I have just says play blues shuffle but is written as if it is played straight. How do I tell NWC to play shuffle style? Thanx. Quote Selected

Re: Blues Bass Reply #2 – 2001-10-24 04:00 am An approximation of a shuffle feel for practise purposes can be achieved by using triplets. For instance, a quarter note and an eighth note "tripletted" together gives that "dum -da dum -da" feel, though it ends up sounding considerably more square than actual jazz/swing performances. For as easy as it is, however, it might be all you need. An example is here: Alley Cat - as in the example, you can write out your visual staff "straight" and use hidden (but sounding) staves to do the actual swing work.Cheers,Fred Quote Selected
