New Dell Computers - SB Live! Platinum 5.1 (NOT)

Just wanted to let people know that I spent 2 grand on a new Dell Pentium 4 system, "upgraded" from Dell's Santa Cruz soundcard (plain awful for General MIDI files, apparently it is not encoded for them) to a Soundblaster Live! Platinum 5.1 card, which my husband then tried to install for me. Turns out the brackets that Creative includes for this sound card are not compatible with Dell computers, they go the wrong direction for installation. We called both Creative and Dell and they both said there was nothing they could do about the incompatibility. Unless you can hold this soundcard up with tape inside a Dell Pentium computer, or create your own metal or plastic brackets to hold it up, you will not be able to install it.

It just so happens that I live in Santa Cruz (CA), a well-known surfing location.

It has been my observation that many surfers repair dings to their surfboards using duct tape.

Perhaps there is some sort of cosmic relationship going on here?
