transposing notes 2001-02-26 05:00 am My problem is trying to transpose notes only and not the entire staff. I have been unable to do this to date and would be incredibly grateful for a break through. Quote Selected
Re: transposing notes Reply #1 – 2001-02-26 05:00 am Individual notes can be transposed by selecting then use the Ctrl/Up or Down Arrows followed by adding any accidentals. To transpose a passage - create another staff with the original key sig.- copy and paste the section to the new staff - use Tools/Transpose to set the new key.Cut and paste the section back into the original score. Re: transposing notes Reply #3 – 2001-02-27 05:00 am If you wish to specifically transpose a selected range of notes, you need to cut and paste into a new staff temporarily. You can also move a selection up and down using Ctrl+Shift+Up/Down Arrows, as described above. Quote Selected
Re: transposing notes Reply #4 – 2001-02-27 05:00 am Clarification: There is a difference between *moving* one or more notes up or down (because they were originally placed incorrectly), and *transposing* a complete composition (or section of music) because you want to play it in a different key.If a note is *moved* one position upwards, the movement might corresponding to a semitone (half-step), two semitones (a whole step), or something else.Highlighting one or more notes, then using SHIFT+CTRL+up or down arrow *moves* the notes. Only in some cases will this be the equivalent of a key-change transposition. Quote Selected
