Instrument - and pitch - changes! 2001-01-29 05:00 am Hi!I use Noteworthy to the maximum of what it can offer, and there's one thing that still irks me, especially when I write for my band (a 7-piece showband on board a cruise ship)My 2 sax players also play flute and clarinet; obviously, an Eb alto, a Bb Clarinet and a C Flute don't play in the same pitch! So when I use those, I'm forced to create 2 or more staves - with different instrument patches AND pitches related to them - for ONLY ONE player, then combine them into a muted staff for printing! The bummer is that if I need to change something in it, I need to revise all staves - muted and active - and it becomes a real pain in the rear-end!Is there something I missed in the help file about that, or am I righteously outraged? Is there a pitch change option included in the patch change that I didn't notice? Please help me simplify my life!!!Signed: a slave to the transposition devil! Quote Selected
Re: Instrument - and pitch - changes! Reply #1 – 2001-01-29 05:00 am Staff layering is what you want! For each instrumentalist allocate as many contiguous staves as instruments played. Then set up each staff according to the instrument. Turn on staff layering (Page Setup/Contents) and layer the musician's staves. You will need to set the contents of the temporarily silent staves to invisible so that the rests don't conflict with the active staff. If you run out of midi channels then assign one channel to each player and put an instument patch at the beginning of each active secion on a staff. I take it they can't play two instruments at once so the potential conflict can't happen.HTHPeter Quote Selected

Thanks a lot, buddy!Well, you can laugh at me, doing staff layering with a whole s***load of copy-pastes so that everything matched the other line!!! 8-()Although, I wouldn't mind having a pitch change option in the wish list, but this does the trick! Thanks again!! Quote Selected
