Piano notation (pedal)

I was wondering what the proper notation for the 'sostenuto' pedal [middle one] on the piano was? The typical "Ped." is for the sustain, but is there a special symbol for the sostenuto?

My friend told me that it was "Sos. - - -" but I was wondering if anyone could confirm this?

There's only convention in 1C (the left one) and 3C (the right one - but this one has LOTS of them) but sostenuto is generally marked by the pianist, because if there's a note that should be sounding and should be held but the hand can't play it at that time, just leave it there and it will be quite clear that the pedal should hold it.

Thank you for your reply! I haven't ever seen the notation for it before, your help is appreciated. I realized today that it might not be necessary for the pedal to be down at this point, but I have to play it that way due to my 'amateur' piano skills. :)
