SB 64 vs SB 128

What would the difference be between these 2 cards if used to playback a nwc file... say of a symphony.

I had the AWE64 and then I upgraded to the PCI128 and it was a nightmaRE. In the end I took the 128 out and put the 64 in. None of my software could find the 128 and it didn't sound as good. I love listening to my Piano Concerti with the AWE 64. If you want to hear how it sounds, go to http://www.mp3.com/MalcolmDale and listen to or download the Field Piano Concerto No 2 made with Noteworthy and AWE64

If you're currently using the PCI64 (as opposed to the AWE 64) then compatability should not be an issue.

I made exactly this switch a couple of months ago. In theory the PCI128 should be capable of sounding 128 simultaneous notes - double the amount of the 64.

In practice this depends on the appropriateness of the drivers and which windows version you are using. There has been a lot of discussion about these issues in the pci128 newsgroup (creative.products.sound_blaster.pci128).

I happen to like the sound of the 8meg. "waveset" (version 4 or higher) apart from one or two niggles. E-mail me direct if you want more information.
