MPC icon size/placement

I sometimes use the MPC for tempo variation to create swing.  Until today, the [mpc.tempo] icons were visible on the staff, but overlapped each other so that they don't take up too much space.  Today I started a new score and [mpc.tempo] is written out full length in each appearance.  Since there are 8 MPCs in each measure, this makes each measure take up half of the screen.  The bars are way too long.  How do I get the [mpc.tempo] to overlap so they don't take up so much space?
