Violins can't stop playing or others can't stop 2008-08-27 07:08 AM When it comes orchestrating for more than 20 instruments I've got a problem... The sound sometimes get stuck so i always have to press the stop button all the time. But I'm some how pretty curious on how could this happen even with a long time experience with NWC2. I checked any pedals marks on the staffs but that wasn't the answer. So what could the problem be? Quote Selected
Re: Violins can't stop playing or others can't stop Reply #1 – 2008-08-27 07:46 AM G'day Kristopher,it sounds like a MIDI "note off" is going missing - I usually run into this when there is a tied note that doesn't match up with the destination note because of something wrong in the way I've done the flow control. Re: Violins can't stop playing or others can't stop Reply #2 – 2008-08-27 11:36 AM IIRC you can do a Find (Ctrl-F) to look for Hanging Ties which is what Lawrie mentioned as a possibility. These are usually caused by an accidental not being notated in a tied note across a bar line. For example, in C major, a G# in one measure tied across the bar line to a G natural in the next measure by forgetting to add the # to the 2nd G, or in, say, A major, a G natural tied across the bar line to what the key signature causes to be a G# by forgetting to add the natural sign to the 2nd G. Re: Violins can't stop playing or others can't stop Reply #3 – 2008-08-27 11:56 AM Thanks for clarifying that Milton - been using NWC2 for so long I forget that others are still using 1.75... Quote Selected
Re: Violins can't stop playing or others can't stop Reply #4 – 2008-08-28 12:01 PM Very good suggestions, Milton and Lawrie. Not easy to orchestrait more than 20 instruments which MAY include Cornets, Chimes, Contrabass Clarinet in Bb, or "including" one or two Piano with 4 harps and a Celesta or two! It's just huge!P.S. I use NWC2 not 1.75. Quote Selected
